The Christmas and New Year’s holidays are over and I am back at work today.
I am so glad to be back to work! I’ve missed my job, I’ve really missed it, and I’m thrilled to be back at work.
After being at home with the kids for the last couple of weeks, I have come to realize how much, how very, very much, I love my job.
No, I’m not joking, I’m not being sarcastic. I’m just really, really happy to be back at work because…
…at work I have my own office, my own desk, my own computer, my own space where people don’t come in and start messing with my stuff;
…at work I don’t have to pick up and clean up people’s messes all the time;
…at work I don’t have people constantly crowding around me, in my space, wanting to do whatever it is that I’m doing;
…at work I don’t have to tell people to quit hitting and pinching and biting each other and calling each other names (at least, not that often);
…at work when I’m talking on the phone, people don’t ask me who I’m talking to and if they can talk, and then loudly say “Hello” to whoever I am talking to;
…at work people do what I ask them to do the first time I ask;
…at work people are respectful and say “Please” and “Thank-you” and “Yes, Sir;”
…at work people know how to keep themselves busy and I don’t continually have to find things for them to do;
…at work people blow their noses without being told and especially before the contents of their noses start oozing out and down their top lips and into their mouths;
…at work I can go to the bathroom and no one bangs on the door asking me if I’m in there and what I am doing;
…at work I can even lay my head down and take a little nap by myself (not that I would, of course).
I really do love my job. I am so glad to be back at work!
